Information requested
How much money Scottish Enterprise has provided to BrewDog PLC since 2007. If possible I would like this information broken up into dates for when separate grants have been awarded.
Response
We have searched our records for details of support provided to Brewdog PLC and can confirm that BrewDog PLC received grant payments of £3,135,425 from Scottish Enterprise since 2007.
The funding comprises grants awarded through our Regional Selective Assistance (RSA) and Intervention Framework (IF) programmes and a breakdown of those payments is below.
As background, RSA grants help businesses undertake investment that will lead directly to the creation and safeguarding of jobs in Scotland. For example, the £1.5m RSA funding secured by BrewDog PLC in 2015 helped the company create 215 jobs and protect a further 90 jobs in Ellon. RSA payments are made in arrears, and only when companies provide evidence of reaching agreed milestones with their investment project.
Intervention Framework grants are usually lower value grants and are designed to help businesses tackle specific areas in their business growth plans, such as international expansion, exporting, business improvement and efficiencies, developing new products/services/business models through innovation, and identifying new markets and customers.
More recently, our engagement with the company focused on offering advice on pivoting the business to producing sanitiser in the early days of the pandemic.
