What is our account management service?
Our experienced account managers support Scottish-based businesses to build resilience and scale through personalised guidance, expert advice, and strategic connections.
Whether you're an entrepreneur with a high growth start up, a growing small and medium enterprise (SME) or you already have global operations, our account management service could support your business
Account managed companies should be should focused on achieving growth, retaining or creating quality jobs in Scotland that pay at least the Real Living Wage and are committed to achieving net zero emission.
What is account management?
Account management can help your business make a significant contribution to achieving a fairer, greener economy in Scotland. It can help you to:
- Develop your business strategy
- Build strong and effective leadership and management practices
- Develop a plan to invest and increase productivity
- Identify available funding from business support partners in Scotland and beyond
- Work with specialist advisors who can help you plan and implement changes
- Increase innovation within the business (in products, processes, business models and workplaces)
- Achieve international growth
- Connect with industry networks relevant to your future ambitions
Which service is right for you?
We have three different account management services.
Early stage/high growth
This is suitable for your business, if you're:
- Developing an innovation-driven, high-growth start-up or a university spin-out with innovative products and services which have an international market
- An early stage business, less than five years old with ambition to scale at pace to raise significant external growth
Business growth
This is suitable if you're an established small or medium-sized (SME) with 10 to 250 employees and a plan to:
- Transform turnover and productivity
- Invest in your assets and people
- Innovate and develop your products and services
Large companies
This is suitable for your business, if you're:
- A large, strategically important company (with more than 250 employees) or a company with significant global operations

Our account management service isn't open to all businesses, but we work closely with a number of partners, including Business Gateway, innovation centres and regional incubators and accelerators. We may direct you to one of these partners, if appropriate.
Please note that we don't work with locally traded services, companies in restricted sectors such as sub-prime lending, gambling, adult entertainment and tobacco.
In line with advice from the Scottish Government, we will not knowingly work with, support or advise any individual or business that has links to Russia or Belarus. And we will not support projects that provide munitions and services to countries linked to genocide or support activities with adverse impact on human rights.
Typically, businesses will be account managed for around 12 to 36 months. This is reviewed on an annual basis.
