Information requested
I as an ethical citizen want to know how much money Scottish Enterprise gave to arm companies based in Scotland in 2020-21 in total and how much was given to individual arms manufacturers such as Raytheon, Leonardo, BAE, Thales and other arms manufacturers.
I would also like to have the financial value of marketing services and any other help given to these companies.
Response
Scottish Enterprise does not categorise companies in the ‘arms’ trade, however for the purposes of your request we have provided information relating to our support for companies that operate within the aerospace, defence and marine (ADM) sectors. Our support is predominately focused on diversification and sustaining employment, and does not in any way relate to the manufacture or export of munitions.
The total amount of funding provided to ADM companies in 2020-21 was £657,919. The financial value of marketing and other services was zero. A breakdown of the individual amounts provided is as follows:
Babcock Marine Ltd | £27,028 |
Chemring Energetics Ltd | £2,769 |
James Fisher Defence Ltd | £26,754 |
Leonardo MV Ltd | £503,369 |
Thales UK Ltd | £98,000 |
Total | £657,919 |
