Join our Innovation and Place Team and support the development and delivery of transformational place-based projects and programmes, designed to make Scotland the most innovative nation in the UK.
The role
This is an exciting opportunity for a project manager to deliver on our ‘innovative places’ ambitions. You’ll lead on the project management and governance of both infrastructure-based and research-focused projects.
Working with colleagues and regional and national partners, you’ll deliver outcomes that include jobs creation and carbon reduction. You’ll also manage and build relationships across a range of partnership groups, and provide expert advice on Scottish Enterprise and partner-led project development.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Working with partners on project and business case development
- Developing an understanding of partners’ priorities and contributions
- Monitoring and reporting on projects
- Appointing and managing external technical consultants
- Managing project budgets
- Reporting against economic indicators
- Articulating project outcomes - for example, jobs created and low carbon measures
- Evaluating projects and capturing key learnings
- Providing support to colleagues across Scottish Enterprise to deliver regional plans, Inward Investment Propositions and National Opportunity programmes
Who we're looking for
You’ll have an in-depth understanding of place-making within an economic development context, and demonstrable project management experience. You’ll have worked collaboratively in a challenging environment and be comfortable working independently, with the expertise to influence at all levels.
Your skills, abilities and experience should include:
- Managing high-level partnerships and building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- An understanding of Scotland’s national strategy for economic transformation and the ability to contextualise with Scottish Enterprise’s priorities
- Demonstrable networking skills
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise
Ideally, but not essentially, you’ll also have:
- A degree-level qualification or equivalent in a relevant discipline
- Knowledge and experience of working in partnership to deliver low carbon transition
- An understanding of property development and project finance
