Be part of building Scotland’s future
At Scottish Enterprise, we’re committed to growing the Scottish economy for the benefit of all, helping create more quality jobs and a brighter future for every region.
We’re shifting to a mission-based approach because it’s essential to create and deliver ambitious, practical infrastructure projects. These projects will support our goals for boosting productivity, driving the energy transition, and growing innovation. By doing this, we aim to attract infrastructure developers and investors – bringing more investment into Scotland.
The role
In this role, you’ll help deliver crucial activities across four areas, including:
- Project identification and development
- Identifying infrastructure projects that support Scotland’s national priorities and economic growth objectives
- Working with your team, wider organisational teams, and external partners – such as government agencies and private sector stakeholders – to co-develop funding strategies
- Spotting and analysing gaps in the commercial viability of proposed projects, especially where risks may limit private sector involvement
- Contributing to the design of innovative funding and financing models, such as blended finance, to unlock investment in strategically important projects
- Supporting the development of ambitious, credible, and scalable investment proposals that attract both public and private capital and are aligned with Scotland’s economic development goals
- Conducting feasibility assessments by gathering technical, financial, and regulatory information
- Coordinating with internal teams and external partners to support project development and prepare documentation
- Contributing to business cases, financial models, and investment materials to support investment proposals.
- Investor relations
- Keeping investor contact details and engagement records up to date
- Helping organise investor meetings and communications and making sure follow-up actions and documentation are completed on time
- Gathering market intelligence on investor trends and preferences to help shape how projects are positioned
- Preparing briefing materials and presentations for investor meetings
- Sharing ideas, research, and insights to help strengthen investor engagement strategies
- Supporting the wider team in investor engagement activities, including attending face-to-face meetings as needed
- Supporting introductions and investor visits
- Coordinating the practical arrangements for investor visits, including scheduling meetings, organising site access, and working with stakeholders
- Helping to prepare meeting agendas, briefing materials, and site tour plans to ensure smooth and productive visits
- Promotional events and activities
- Supporting the planning and delivery of promotional activities, such as networking events and conferences
- Assisting with the creation of promotional materials and presentations designed for infrastructure investment audiences
Other responsibilities
You’ll also play a role in supporting the wider team by:
- Showing positive behaviours that promote teamwork, collaboration, and a solutions-focused approach
- Following our organisation’s policies on CRM use, ensuring data is accurately analysed and management reports are prepared as needed
Who we’re looking for
What you’ll bring to the role:
- A genuine interest in spotting, developing, and promoting infrastructure investment opportunities that support Scotland’s national development goals
- Experience in the capital markets or financial sector
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels
- Great attention to detail
- Solid financial understanding, along with strong numeracy and analytical skills relevant to assessing capital investment opportunities in private markets
- Excellent ICT skills, with working knowledge of online creative tools
- The ability to perform well under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- A proactive approach, taking ownership of your responsibilities and actions
- A good understanding of Scottish Enterprise’s wider objectives and how economic development principles are applied in projects and programmes
- A qualification at SCQF level 8 in a relevant subject, or equivalent relevant experience
It would also be great (but not essential) if you have:
- Knowledge of Scotland’s core strengths and competitive advantages
- An understanding of the Treasury Green Book, the Scottish Public Finance Manual, and Subsidy Control rules
