Be part of building Scotland’s future

Scottish Enterprise is Scotland’s main economic development agency. We’re committed to growing the economy for the benefit of all, helping to create more quality jobs and a brighter future for every region.

As we move towards a missions-based approach, our Digital, Data, and AI strategy will be crucial in making sure our technology, systems and data are aligned, agile, and efficient in supporting everything we do.

This is a pivotal role with the opportunity to lead and shape our Technical Operations team at a time of change and opportunity.

The role

You’ll lead and develop a team of specialists responsible for the operation and development of enterprise-wide digital services. You’ll also oversee the performance of major in-house digital services and SaaS platforms, with a strong focus on service management, reliability, and continuous improvement.

This role offers the chance to work in new ways and play a leading role in how we shape the delivery of digital services across the organisation. You’ll need a broad skill set, the ability to keep sight of the bigger picture (while prioritising iterative developments), and a passion for digital delivery backed by a data-driven approach.

Key responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing technical support services for over 1000 internal users, covering both in-house systems and business-critical third-party SaaS applications.
  • Ensuring service management and configuration processes align with our Digital, Data and AI Strategy.
  • Working closely with senior stakeholders (including our skills and enterprise shared services partners) to support effective delivery against service level agreements. This will include maintaining high availability, setting budgets, monitoring performance, and acting as the main point of contact for service management issues
  • Overseeing the availability, security and cost-efficiency of our Microsoft Azure environments, ensuring these cloud services are well-managed, resilient, and value for money.

Who we're looking for

This role requires considerable managerial and professional autonomy – built on years of experience in service management and assurance. You’ll be an expert in these areas and educated to SCQF Level 10 or equivalent.

You will:

  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, straightforward business language.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of industry best practice (such as ITIL or equivalent) and service delivery standards.
  • Manage contracts and own supplier relationships, with knowledge of cyber security principles and best practice an advantage.
  • Bring technical expertise across Microsoft Azure infrastructure optimisation, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Platform, and the ownership and development of external SaaS business systems
  • Resolve long-term, complex problems, from tackling system failures and ineffective processes, to developing policies, operating systems and innovative approaches that improve operational effectiveness.
  • Create the conditions for high performance, influencing, motivating, and developing people, including direct reports and, at times, senior experts and supervisors.
  • Explore and apply emerging technologies such as AI and automation to deliver business efficiencies.
