Our 3-year corporate strategy sets out our intent. Our long-term ambitions to help drive a more sustainable, inclusive economy.
By working with our public-sector partners, universities, private sector and others, we’ll invest in the bedrock that will allow our economy to grow. Creating the right conditions to build:
- Vibrant economic communities across Scotland, sharing greater wealth and wellbeing
- Scotland’s reputation and reach in strategically important markets
- Resilience in Scotland’s businesses, sectors and regions
- Future economic opportunities that will drive international advantage

Taking a more flexible and proactive approach to support customers means we can mobilise and respond faster in future, delivering increased resilience across Scotland’s businesses, sectors and regions.
Anke Heggie, Director of Company Growth, Scottish Enterprise

Our business plan
We must also focus on the short to medium-term actions. Ones we must take now, to build the dynamism, capacity and capability in the economy, that will move us along the path to achieving our overall goals.
Our 2019-2020 operating business plan focuses on working with partners to drive growth through:
- Attracting, creating and protecting quality jobs and talent that will support wellbeing across Scotland
- Driving research and innovation investment in businesses and sectors
- Stimulating capital investment in local, regional and national economies
- Giving more businesses across Scotland the best chance to fulfil their potential
- Growing export value and the number of exporting companies

With our partners, we have access to a considerable amount of data and intelligence. We'll use this insight more effectively to identify the best future opportunities for Scotland, and to make evidence-based investment decisions.
