As a Scottish Enterprise Digital Transformation Specialist, you'll use your digital expertise to help Scottish businesses innovate and grow through implementation of digital technologies and approaches. With your guidance and funding support, clients will increase investment in Digital and improve business performance, making a real difference to Scotland’s economy.

The role

You’ll be part of a team of eight Digital Transformation Specialists working on planning and implementing projects across Scotland. You’ll also be working with internal colleagues and our external network of partners to deliver support to businesses on Digital aspects of plans, feasibility work and implementation projects that can transform business performance.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Advising businesses: you’ll go the extra mile to understand the challenges your clients are facing. Identifying areas where digital solutions can improve their business.
  • Developing digital strategies: you’ll outline the roadmap for digital transformation, including planning and implementation.
  • Finding the right solutions: through your understanding of clients’ business goals, you’ll recommend the right technologies, tools and platforms for them.
  • Improving data analysis and insights: help companies make data work harder. Find new ways to leverage capture and analysis – this includes opportunities to use Artificial Intelligence.
  • Managing relationships: you’ll build good working relationships with colleagues, clients, external suppliers and other business support organisations. Your network will help you better serve your clients.
  • Managing digital transformation projects: you’ll be advising throughout delivery as well as flagging and mitigating potential risks.
  • Unlocking funding: you’ll be appraising some of the businesses that could benefit most from SE grant support – to unlock investment barriers, address gaps or accelerate delivery.
  • Managing change: as well as championing new technology, you’ll foster a culture of digital adoption and address resistance to change in your clients’ organisations.
  • Staying current: you’ll need to keep your knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies and industry best practices up-to-date, so you know you’re offering the most relevant digital solutions

Who we're looking for

Your skills, abilities and experience should include:

  • Extensive knowledge of Digital and IT solutions within one or more of: Data & Business Intelligence; Digital Manufacturing & Engineering; Industry 4.0, Internet of Things; Automation; Artificial Intelligence and Business Systems (e.g. ERP, MRP)
  • The ability to build strong client relationships, understand businesses’ needs and give advice.
  • The ability to network within business and digital communities and identify opportunities for supporting digital projects.
  • Experience working across a wide range of industry sectors.
  • Project management experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Qualified to SCQF level 10 including a qualification in Digital or IT.
  • Glasgow, Renfrewshire, Dunbartonshire and Lanarkshire are your service delivery regions, with the potential to service clients in Scotland’s central belt. So you’ll need a diving license and be happy travelling between clients.

Ideally, but not essentially, you'll also have:

  • Knowledge or experience in Business Analysis techniques or Change Management.
  • Experience working in or with companies one of the following industries: Manufacturing; Sciences; Engineering; Energy; or Information and Communication Technology.
