The role

As Digital Transformation Team Leader, you’ll lead a team of nine experienced digital transformation specialists working across Scotland. Together, you’ll help businesses assess the feasibility of new digital technologies, as well as offer support to help transformation happen. From offering guidance on digital adoption, to helping develop digital investment projects and appraising financial interventions, you’ll help people meet their business goals with digital technologies.

You’ll also lead and manage your own team. You’ll have the digital expertise and leadership credentials to translate strategy into actions. Building your network will help as you nurture relationships with Scottish Enterprise teams and external stakeholders within Scotland’s digital support ecosystem. These include Scottish Government, economic agencies, innovation centres and Scotland’s digital supply chain.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and communicating the Digital Transformation service. You’ll deliver a compelling proposition that motivates businesses to engage with Scottish Enterprise and embrace digital technologies to boost performance.
  • Helping businesses raise investments for new technologies
  • Driving your team’s performance to meet Scottish Enterprise’s new missions strategy objectives. This includes delivering digital projects with businesses that deliver economic returns.
  • Building relationships with colleagues and stakeholders within Scotland’s business and digital support networks
  • Staying up-to-date with key digital topics to feed Scottish Enterprise’s objectives and meet the needs of Scottish businesses. These may include data and business intelligence, artificial intelligence, digital manufacturing and engineering, Industry 4.0, the Internet of Things, automation and key business systems enabling growth.
  • Leading your team in line with Scottish Enterprise’s new people strategy. This includes regular performance and development conversations with Digital Transformation team members.
  • Overseeing delivery and outputs of Digital Transformation’s one-to-many business programmes. You’ll deliver these on time and in budget, targeting the right audience.

Who we're looking for

Essential skills, abilities and experience for this role include:

  • Significant experience delivering complex projects and leading teams, including a range of functional subject matter experts
  • Appraising and developing business cases
  • Delivering change management and continuous improvement methods to meet strategic operating plans
  • Knowledge of digital and IT solutions within one or more of the following areas: data and business intelligence, digital manufacturing and engineering, Industry 4.0, the Internet of Things, automation, artificial intelligence and business systems (such as enterprise resource planning or material requirements planning), with good understanding of the potential advantages to businesses by adopting these practices
  • Proven ability setting goals and expectations at group and individual level
  • Developing strategies to achieve goals as a team
  • Strong people management, coaching, mentoring and motivating skills
    The ability to assess and interpret complex information/data and present findings or propositions to colleagues
  • The ability to communicate, negotiate and influence at all levels
  • Qualifications to SCQF level 10 including a qualification related to digital or IT
  • Being able to drive with a driving license
