Be part of building Scotland’s future
At Scottish Enterprise, we support Scotland’s most ambitious companies to innovate, scale, and help transform the economy.
The next decade will bring both major challenges and extraordinary opportunities. To meet them, we’re focused on three bold missions:
- Building a globally competitive energy transition industry
- Scaling Scotland’s innovation strengths into high-growth industries of the future
- Unlocking capital investment to boost productivity and create high-value jobs
To deliver on these ambitions, we’re evolving – aligning our leadership, people, support, networks, and partnerships across Scotland, the UK, and beyond. This will ensure we’re fully focused on the transformational opportunities that can build a more successful, greener, and fairer Scotland.
Flexible, patient investment sits at the heart of our strategy. We’re building on our proven co-investment model to create strategic investment partnerships, develop innovative solutions that de-risk opportunities, and attract capital to help Scotland’s most ambitious companies grow.
The role
This is an exciting opportunity to lead our Strategic Investments Team within the Entrepreneurship and Investment Directorate. You’ll shape and deliver some of our most significant, impactful investments – helping drive Scotland’s long-term economic ambitions.
The team delivers tailored funding solutions across equity, debt, and project finance – tackling opportunities that fall outside our standard co-investment model. These investments support our mission priorities: scaling innovation, unlocking capital investment, and accelerating the energy transition.
As team leader, you’ll guide a small team of investment specialists to set a direction, support their development, and ensure every investment delivers impact. You’ll work with senior colleagues, company leadership teams, co-investors, and stakeholders to initiate, structure, and manage complex deals that make a tangible difference to Scotland’s economy.
Reporting to the Head of Investment, you’ll oversee performance, shape priorities, and encourage new thinking in how we approach investment – balancing commercial success with lasting economic value.
Key responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing technical support services for more than 1000 internal users, covering both in-house systems and business-critical third-party SaaS applications
- Ensuring service management and configuration processes align with our Digital, Data and AI Strategy
- Working closely with senior stakeholders (including our skills and enterprise shared services partners) to support effective delivery against service level agreements by maintaining high availability, setting budgets, monitoring performance, and acting as the main point of contact for service management issues
- Overseeing the availability, security and cost-efficiency of our Microsoft Azure environments, ensuring these cloud services are well-managed and resilient, and offer value for money
Role profile
