The opportunity

Join Scottish Enterprise’s Graduate Development Programme and discover a role in which you can make a difference to Scotland’s economy.

You’ll join the team that helps to steer the evolution of Scottish Enterprise’s digital products: the ‘shopfront’ to the services we provide to businesses. These include websites like scottish-enterprise.com, SDI.co.uk, and FindBusinessSupport.gov.scot.

There’s also a large and comprehensive Customer Relationship Management system, plus a brand-new Customer Platform.

The role

As a product owner, you’ll work to understand both the needs of our users and the services we offer. This will give you a clear vision and plan for developing one or more of our products.

You’ll work alongside the cross-functional digital specialist team that creates our products, as well as a Service Delivery Manager who makes sure services are delivered effectively. You’ll also track the performance of the products you work on and suggest iterative improvements.

With product ownership typically a senior role, this is a great opportunity to fast track your skills and learn from experienced Product Owners. It’s also an ideal introduction to the collaborative way digital products are co-developed by Product Owners, plus a chance to put the skills you learned at university (no matter what subject you studied) into practical, real-world use.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Owning one of our digital products, with responsibility for its vision, roadmap, metrics and the prioritisation of work in its backlog
• Working with the product’s customers to understand their needs so these can be translated into features and other future developments
• Working with specific business areas within our organisation – such as our Grants, Marketing or Customer Engagement teams – to ensure the product also meets their needs

Who we're looking for

You’ll be an enthusiastic graduate aiming to take on an Associate Product Owner role at the end of this two-year programme. We’ll help you work towards that goal by equipping you with any skills you don’t already have.

• You appreciate design and understand how it can complement or hinder a service or product
