Selling on the FlipKart online marketplace

Getting started on FlipKart

FlipKart is India’s leading online marketplace, with around 40% market share of the Indian online retail industry.

It operates solely in India and can therefore be challenging for international sellers to be listed.

As a UK seller, you must work with an Indian based aggregator, who acts as the registered seller and handles everything from the product listings to customer support and shipping on your behalf.

Flipkart also offers fulfilment services and warehousing, making the logistics a simpler process to get orders to the customer.

Markets

FlipKart is a business-to-consumer (B2C) market place, selling to customers in India

Sectors

You can sell on FlipKart if your business is in one or more of the following sectors:

  • Textiles
  • Apparel
  • Technology
  • Food and drink
  • Sports
  • Electronics
  • Health and beauty
  • Children’s items
  • A place to buy everything

Subscriptions and fees

There are commission fees along with fulfilment fees that are due for items sold.

  • Commission fees typically range from 5-15% and are dependent on the nature of the item.
  • Fulfilment Fees depend upon the shipping weight, and range between 5-15%.

To give an example an item selling 1500 R (£17) incurs a 10% commission, shipping fee, collection fee, marketplace fee and goods and service tax (GST). The total deductions is 300.09 R (£3.43) giving 1199.91 R (£13.72) final fee to be credited to the seller.
