Scottish Enterprise is Scotland’s main economic development agency, supporting Scottish businesses to become more efficient and grow. Join us as a Finance Assistant Modern Apprentice working in our Accounts Payable team, where we provide the core financial processing services for the organisation.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your finance skills in a fast-paced environment. As a Modern Apprentice, you’ll receive on-the-job training and will also work towards your SCQF Level 6 in Business and Administration.

The role

As part of the Accounts Payable team, you’ll help us stay on top of supplier invoices and deal with queries from internal and external customers. This is your chance to see how a big organisation functions and the internal processes that underpin it.

You’ll be supporting different teams and departments across Scottish Enterprise as well as working closely with staff within the wider Finance directorate.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Checking supplier invoices meet the requirements of our organisation's finance policies
  • Processing invoices and grant claims for approval
  • Reviewing staff expenses and validating receipts
  • Monitoring our team mailbox and helpdesk

Who we're looking for

You’ll be a strong administrator with a proactive approach to solving problems and getting things done. Keen to progress your skills, you enjoy working as part of a team as you learn from the people around you.

Your skills, abilities and experience should include:

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, such as Excel and Word
  • An ability to work to deadlines
  • A customer-focused approach
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ideally, but not essentially, you’ll also have experience working in an administrative role.
