Interim Chief Executive, Managing Director, Scottish Development International and Scottish Enterprise International Operations
Paul Lewis is currently Interim Chief Executive of Scottish Enterprise - Scotland's national economic development agency.
Paul is also responsible for Scottish Development International (SDI), a partnership between the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise and Highlands & Islands Enterprise which leads on Scotland’s trade and investment.
SDI’s role is to support Scottish-based businesses to trade and export internationally, attract inward investment to Scotland and work collaboratively to support international growth opportunities for Scotland, through its 29 overseas offices.
The Scottish Investment Bank (SIB), the largest investor of early stage risk capital in Scotland, also sits under Paul’s remit.
Paul has worked for Scottish Enterprise for over 25 years. Immediately prior to his current role, Paul was Managing Director of Operations - Sectors, High Growth Ventures & Investment. Prior to this Paul was the Senior Director Infrastructure responsible for a £100m annual investment programme across Scotland. In his career to date, Paul has helped deliver a range of flagship projects across the industry sectors such as Edinburgh’s £200m life science BioQuarter, Clyde Waterfront £1bn Regeneration and Edinburgh International Conference Centre and financial centre.
Paul is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh where he gained a BSc (Hons) and has an MBA from Strathclyde Graduate Business School.
