The difference you'll make

In this newly-created position you’ll use your leadership and technical skills to turn the large volume of data we gather from customer interactions into actionable insights. Managing a small team of specialists, you’ll act as technical and strategic coach, defining our approach to sourcing, cleansing and mining data.

You’ll develop and refine the processes we use around data gathering and interrogation, to build a high-quality approach equal to those used in commercial environments. This is very much a 'hands-on' role that will allow you to use and share your technical skills on a daily basis.

The qualities you'll bring

We’re looking for a leader with an extensive technical background (SQL, Python, R, SAS, SPSS, Microsoft PowerBI for example) to help source, cleanse, mine, model and visualise data.

This technical excellence will be backed by a range of management qualities, such as people management, influencing and communication skills. You'll be a natural planner and problem-solver, able to lead your team and bring about continuous improvements in the ways we gather and use data across the organisation.

What you'll be doing

You’ll lead activities that provide deep insight into the effectiveness of our digital programmes, and give recommendations on future approaches. This includes online, email, and social, as well as content engagement programmes, and any paid, earned and organic search optimisation activities.

You’ll build the technical and other capabilities of your team to help them develop the skills, experience and a can-do attitude. This will improve Scottish Enterprise’s ability to develop a data-driven approach for future digital activities.
