How we work with investors
We run two co-investment funds that address gaps in the early-stage risk capital market – the Scottish Co-investment Fund and the Scottish Venture Fund. Through these funds, we co-invest alongside sophisticated and experienced private sector investors into ambitious, innovative, businesses with scaling potential based in Scotland. Who are our investment partners?
Our private investors include business angels, angel syndicates, family offices, venture capital groups and corporate investors. Our links with business angel groups are strengthened by our relationship with Angel Capital Scotland, which is Scotland’s leading angel investor network.
We invest on fully commercial terms with the same investor rights and protections as our private sector investors.
We run two co-investment funds that address gaps in the early-stage risk capital market:
- Scottish Co-investment Fund (SCF)
- Scottish Venture Fund (SVF)
Find out more about these funds and our investment criteria on our investment fund page.
If you're an investor with an interest in investing into Scottish opportunities, the Scottish Co-investment Fund is best suited to investors looking to undertake multiple investments.
The Scottish Venture Fund is best suited to investors making a small number of investments, or international investors looking to invest into a Scottish opportunity for the first time. It's also suited to investors looking to develop a track record ahead of applying to become an accredited SCF partner.
We want to invest alongside experienced private sector investors with a strong track record in creating value through investment into early stage, high growth companies with scaling potential.
We’ll usually complete a small number of Scottish Venture Fund deals with new investors before considering Scottish Co-investment Fund-accredited status.
This allows both parties to get to know each other before going through the Scottish Co-investment Fund partner accreditation process.
Apply to be an accredited SCF partner
We're always looking for applications from a wide range of investors who'd like to be considered for accredited partnership status of the Scottish Co-investment Fund.
This fund was the first public sector equity co-investment fund, which was established in 2003. It combines private sector investor and public sector funding to make equity investments in businesses with scaling potential in Scotland.
You can search our current list of accredited SCF partners to see who we work with.
To apply to be a partner, get in touch using our enquiry form. Please state in the body of your message that you're interested in applying to be a Scottish Co-Investment Fund Accredited Partner.
If I'm not accredited can you still co-invest with me?
If you're not an accredited investment partner, you won't be able to invest in companies through the Scottish Co-investment Fund. However, we may still be able to co-invest with you through the Scottish Venture Fund.
