Now, as we gear up to realise the ambitions of the National Strategy for Economic Transformation (NSET), we're seeking a visionary leader to assume the role of Director of Strategy and Performance.

Key responsibilities

Leadership excellence

You'll direct our Strategy, Networks and Insights team, amplifying their capacity to drive strategic initiatives that align with our transformative agenda. You'll also provide overarching strategic guidance, ensuring synergy across mission delivery, operational capabilities and enabling services.

Strategic prowess

You'll lead the development of our economic growth strategy, collaborating closely with our CEO and senior management. You'll use robust scenario planning and modelling capabilities to refine our strategic framework and translate it into actionable plans.

Engagement and implementation

You'll articulate our strategy with precision and persuasiveness, tailoring messages to resonate with diverse stakeholders. You'll also forge strategic partnerships with public and private sector entities, both locally and internationally, to share risks and opportunities and drive mutual growth.

Continuous improvement

You'll lead efforts to gauge the impact of our interventions on Scotland's economy and broader societal objectives. You'll champion a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring that our initiatives drive tangible transformation and deliver measurable outcomes.

Skills and experience

We're seeking a candidate with:

  • Extensive experience at senior levels, adept at navigating political landscapes and engaging with key stakeholders
  • A profound understanding of Scottish Government policies and the dynamics of economic development
  • A robust network spanning government, business organisations, and agencies involved in economic growth
  • Visionary leadership capabilities, coupled with a knack for translating strategy into actionable plans
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to inspire and empower teams
