Be part of building Scotland's future
Scotland has a thriving, internationally connected fintech sector, built on our financial services heritage and growing strengths in data, AI, open finance, digital assets and regulatory innovation. At Scottish Enterprise, our ambition is to help more fintech businesses turn innovation into commercial success, attract investment and scale into globally competitive companies, while accelerating technology adoption across the wider financial services industry.
We’re building our Scaling Innovation Mission to connect ambitious businesses with investors, industry, regulators and international opportunities – and to turn Scotland’s strengths into lasting economic impact.
The role
You’ll lead our fintech strategy and develop a strategic delivery action plan in the Scaling Innovation Mission.
Working closely with external partners, you’ll turn market insight into an investible pipeline of major programmes – initiating opportunities, building coalitions and delivering measurable outcomes across innovation, adoption and scaling that support economic growth.
You will:
- Lead the development and implementation of the fintech strategy and delivery action plan, setting priorities, outcomes, measures, dependencies, risks and timelines
- Devise, shape and deliver major multi-partner programmes, including cluster activity with FinTech Scotland and others, to strengthen the innovation pipeline and support high-potential companies
- Build relationships across industry, investors, regulators, academia and government
- Apply insight to accelerate scale and adoption
Who we're looking for
The Scaling Innovation Mission brings together industry, investors and partners to help Scotland’s most ambitious companies innovate and grow. You’ll bring strong fintech knowledge, sound judgement and a practical focus on delivery – with the confidence to work across organisational boundaries and build effective relationships.
Your skills and experience should include:
- Significant experience in fintech or financial services, in an industry-facing delivery role or in economic development, with evidence of strategic impact
- Knowledge of Scotland’s fintech landscape, including key institutions, policy and funding mechanisms
- Expertise in fintech innovation, market dynamics, regulation and adoption barriers
- A track record of developing strategies and mobilising complex programmes or projects involving multiple stakeholders
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and manage delivery governance
