What is the Workplace Transformation Support fund?
The Workplace Transformation Support fund can help your company maximise the impact of your planned capital investment project which must be a minimum of £200,000 planned within the next 12 months.
It supports ambitious leaders who are ready to invest in new equipment and technology to drive business growth. The fund can be used to support the transformation of workplace practices, skills and leadership capabilities necessary to increase and accelerate the returns and impact of your company’s investment.
How much support is available?
Grant support can range from £15,000 to £100,000 and is based on up to 50% of eligible project costs.
Sectors we’re interested in
We're looking for projects that can make the biggest impact on Scotland’s economy. Our focus is on key industries of the future, including:
- Clean energy
- Professional, scientific, and technical services
- Information and communications
- Manufacturing
Am I eligible?
To qualify for support, your project must:
- Be linked to a capital investment project worth at least £200,000. This must be a minimum of £200,000 planned within the next 12 months.
- Operate in a key industry. These include professional, scientific, and technical services, manufacturing, information and communications, or clean energy.
- Operate within the area served by Scottish Enterprise (Aberdeen City and Shire, the east of Scotland, Tayside, and the west of Scotland)
- Have more than 10 employees (unless it focuses on an area that does not require more than that)
Funding will not be offered if your company is already committed to the project or where we believe that the project would proceed without support from the fund.
Projects must be complete by 31 March 2026.
Fair Work and net zero
All companies that receive funding need to meet the Scottish Government’s criteria for Fair Work and net zero.
This must include:
- Appropriate channels for effective voice, such as trade union recognition
- Payment of the real living wage to all employees over the age of 16, including apprentices
- Investment in workforce development
- No inappropriate use of zero-hour contracts
- Taking action to tackle the gender pay gap and create a more diverse and inclusive workplace
- Offer flexible and family-friendly working practices for all workers from day one of employment
- Opposing the use of fire-and-rehire practices
- Having a credible plan in place to reduce operational greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2045 at the latest
What can the support be used for?
All received funding must be used to support your capital investment project.
It must contribute towards the project’s impact, maximise the likelihood of its success and help implement transformational change within your workplace.
It can be used to:
- Develop a fair and innovative work culture
- Develop leadership and management
- Support the adoption of new workplace practices
- Increase skill levels across the organisation through training and support. This can include the use of new technology, such as digital, AI, or robotics
- Support the redesign of job roles that improve productivity and support change
The fund cannot be used for unrelated expenses.
