What is SHINe?

Scotland’s hydrogen innovation network (SHINe) is here to help Scottish and international companies access existing hydrogen innovation resources.

Discover opportunities across Scotland's hydrogen sector

SHINe offers a single platform for your business. You can easily find the expertise, opportunities, partnerships and test centres to take your hydrogen innovations closer to commercialisation.

What are SHINe’s goals?

SHINe aims to:

  • Act as a one-stop shop for Scotland’s hydrogen innovation assets, to make it easier for companies and investors to navigate Scotland’s hydrogen landscape
  • Shine a light on Scotland’s innovation assets, to simplify the process for companies seeking Scottish facilities for innovation products and services
  • Provide resources and guidance on innovation funding opportunities and assets, to reduce research costs for companies
  • Guide investors through the complexities of the Scottish hydrogen innovations system and funding landscape
  • Promote Scotland’s hydrogen innovation and manufacturing capabilities around the world, to attract investment and position Scotland as a leader in the global hydrogen revolution

Commercial support for your business

SHINe can support up to eight innovators on their journey towards commercialisation and fundraising. If you’re a small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) the programme can help you accelerate your hydrogen-related innovations across production, storage, transport, distribution and end-use applications.

Our support is delivered mainly on a one-to-one basis through regular meetings, giving you direct access to a dedicated mentor who understands your business. We'll work to pair you with someone whose expertise best fits your commercial goals and growth ambitions.

Alongside mentoring, we can also provide several days of bespoke analysis to help strengthen a specific aspect of your business case or market position. This may include detailed market assessments, customer mapping to identify and prioritise opportunities, and competitor analysis to minimise IP risks in a fast-growing hydrogen economy.

Eligibility

To be eligible, your business must be:

  • An SME registered in Scotland, with less than 250 staff
  • Active in the hydrogen value chain
  • Able to show potential and ambition for growth
