Are you a Scottish Deep Tech business ready to scale? We’re looking to support ambitious, innovative companies developing breakthrough technologies.
About the programme
The Deep Tech Growth Programme is the first step of the Deep Tech Supercluster launch. This is a coordinated effort to bring together Scotland’s world-class research, manufacturing, and commercialisation expertise.
The Supercluster aims to address the unique challenges deep tech companies face, from investment and talent to market access and manufacturing scale-up
By joining this inaugural programme, you’ll help co-develop pathways for deep tech companies to scale manufacturing in Scotland.
Collaborate with strategic partners
You'll get tailored support from Scottish Enterprise, the National Manufacturing Institute of Scotland (NMIS), and the National Robotarium.
We’re also looking to engage with a network of strategic partners across the supply chain. This collaboration will bring added value to emerging and scaling companies. You'll leverage the expertise, resources, and opportunities these partners can offer.
What is Deep Tech?
Deep Tech is breakthrough science and engineering turned into manufactured products and processes. These technologies are capital-intensive, IP-rich, and tackle big global challenges – but they face long timelines, complex supply chains, and a tough leap from lab to volume production.
Programme outline
The Deep Tech Growth Programme follows a five-phase model:
The first stage is an open call for expressions of interest and partner recruitment. You’ll share your product vision, target markets and growth ambitions. We’ll begin shaping a network of potential technical and commercial collaborators for you.
At this stage, your project will be stress-tested against criteria such as product readiness, market demand, investment potential, and manufacturing feasibility. Additional input from potential partners will help refine your proposition and identify gaps.
You’ll then develop a full business case, with the support of selected capability partners. This includes financial planning, supply chain mapping, intellectual property strategy and initial investor engagement. This stage brings together the right delivery team to turn your business case into action.
With public and private investment secured, your project will then move into contracting and mobilisation. Manufacturing processes are validated, early production runs are initiated, and you’ll start to build customer traction in your target markets.
Working with Scottish Development International (our international arm), and overseas agencies, we’ll then co-develop solutions directly with international customers. This will anchor your product in global value chains and open pathways to joint funding and export growth.
Am I eligible?
This programme is for companies tackling global challenges with capital-intensive, IP-rich solutions.
If you’re building a deep tech product with global potential – whether validating feasibility, preparing to scale manufacturing, or expanding into new markets – the programme will help you access the right partners, investment, and support to accelerate growth
If you’re a technical, manufacturing, design, or investment organisation, you can join the Partner Pool to connect with high-potential product companies early, shape projects, and open new commercial opportunities
