Research Data Scotland

Research Data Scotland works with researchers, analysts, and policymakers to simplify secure access to public sector data for research. In partnership with other organisations in Scotland and the UK, they're building on and transforming key aspects of the data research system.

In particular, they're developing the Researcher Access Service (RAS) and the Scottish Safe Haven Network. Their vision is to advance health and social wellbeing in Scotland by enabling timely and cost-effective access to public sector data about people, places, and businesses. Using this data, they facilitate collaborative, data-driven research and innovation for the public good.

Research Data Scotland also works directly with companies on projects, often in partnership with the Scottish Safe Haven Network and Scottish Medical Imaging. Many of these are currently in development, one of which is a pilot fund for SMEs accessing data, which is set to launch in 2026.
